Relebohile Mofokeng to be rewarded with a new car by department

Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng will receive a new car from the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation.

This reward comes after the 20-year-old was named the Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year in November last year. Mofokeng earned this honour by surpassing notable competitors, including former African 100m record holder Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, two-time Olympic champion Tatjana Schoenmaker, and his Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.

The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation will now be recognising him with a car for his achievement.

Mofokeng has had a stellar 2024, winning two trophies with Orlando Pirates. His good showing even saw him get his first call-up for Bafana Bafana having impressed coach Hugo Broos.

This week, the Gauteng department of sport said the youngster would be presented with a vehicle on Tuesday.

“Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year winner, Relebohile Mofokeng will receive his prize of a brand-new car handed over by MEC Matome Chiloane,” a statement read as per GOAL.

“The biggest winner of the 2024 Awards, Mofokeng, will be presented with the vehicle tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 February 2025, courtesy of the sponsors, Joma Sport, at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort.”

Relebohile Mofokeng has played 14 league matches this season scoring twice. He has already lifted the MTN8 title this season having scored in the final. The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from Pirates after the 2024/25 season with a number of European top teams interested in his services.
