RIP: Hiker dies after collapsing on Lion’s Head in Cape Town

Rescuers from Wilderness Search & Rescue responded to Lion’s Head on Friday night after receiving reports that a hiker had collapsed while descending the trail.

The rapid deployment included Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS paramedics, SANParks – Table Mountain National Park rangers and various technical teams.

Unfortunately, all attempts to resuscitate the hiker were unsuccessful.

The hiker was carried from the trail and handed over to local SAPS and forensic services members on scene.

The incident was concluded shortly before midnight on Friday.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to the family and friends of the deceased.
