As it stands, Springbok RG Snyman and All Black and Hurricanes ace Barrett are the foreign imports on Leinster’s books.
But Leinster are reportedly not done hunting for southern hemisphere’s superstars, with a Springbok hot-stepper in their sights to join compatriot Snyman at the Irish outfit next season.
According to RugbyPass, Leinster are contemplating tabling a lucrative transfer offer that would see the two-time World Cup-winning utility move from South Africa to Ireland.
As per the report, the potential transfer is backed by billionaire Paul Coulson, who owns equity in the Stormers, the team to whom Willemse is currently contracted.
The club’s targeting of Willemse coincides with the end of Barrett’s short-term stint at Leinster, leading to speculation that the Irish team want to replace one with the other at the end of the season.
If the deal between the Springbok and Leinster materialises, it would be a similar arrangement as that of Barrett, who want granted a six-month sabbatical by New Zealand Rugby to allow him to play for the Irish powerhouse.
WILL THIS BE A GOOD OR A BAD MOVE FOR SPRINGBOK WILLEMSE?
