Seven Pakistani Nationals Confirmed Dead in Libya Boat Tragedy

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday confirmed the deaths of seven Pakistani nationals in a recent boat capsizing incident off the coast of Libya.

Six of the deceased hailed from Kurram district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one was from Bajaur.

The boat, which was carrying approximately 65 passengers, met with disaster near Marsa Dela port, northwest of Zawiya city. Local authorities and officials from the Pakistani Embassy in Tripoli are working together to identify deceased individuals and gather more information about those affected.

The Crisis Management Unit at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been activated to monitor and respond to this situation closely. Efforts are ongoing to provide support to families affected by this tragedy and ensure that necessary assistance is provided during this difficult time.
 
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the recent migrant boat tragedy off Libya as “deeply concerning.” In a statement, he directed the Foreign Office and Pakistan’s mission in Libya to expedite fact-finding and keep the public fully informed.
 
He also vowed to take action against those involved in human trafficking, emphasizing that no negligence would be tolerated.
