It’s been a tumultuous time for Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize.

The successful businesswoman has a R40 million bill to settle with SARS and owes former forward Samir Nurkovic R11.1 million, as well as an undisclosed amount to Ricardo Nascimento.

That means Mkhize owes a staggering R51.1 million plus Nascimento’s unpaid wages.

Royal AM woes

Royal AM last played on December 29 and has since been forced to postpone eight games, including fixtures against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Along with Mkhize’s astronomical SARS debt, players went on strike amid unpaid salaries, some of whom requested their contracts be terminated during the summer window to join rival clubs.

Following the breaking news, Mkhize released a statement:

“The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments,

“It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritise the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges,

“We appreciate the patience and support of our players, staff, and their families during this difficult time. Additionally, we thank our fans, sponsors, and broader stakeholders for their continued trust and loyalty,” Mkhize added.

“Royal AM is committed to preserving the integrity of the club and ensuring its long-term success. We remain optimistic that this situation will be resolved soon, and we will provide timely updates as developments unfold.”
