AIKEN, Sc. (WJBF)- Smith-Hazel Park had some new renovations and it’s time for it to be reopened to the community.
This renovation project took 6 months to complete.
The pool was at the center of the park before the renovations began.
Now after those renovations, there is so much more to see.
There are enhanced sidewalks and walking paths, new storm water management, an accessible playground, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, and a new picnic shelter.
There is one amenity that other Aiken parks don’t have that Smith-Hazel now has to offer.
“They are going to find here that there’s an in-ground trampoline and that’s something they’re not going to find anywhere else in again. So I’m just excited to see their faces light up and see that this engagement happening with the kids using the playground area,” said Jessica Campbell, parks director.
The ribbon cutting will start at 4 p.m. at Smith-Hazel Park.
