SO CLOSE: Pirates make progress with soon-to-be free agent!

Orlando Pirates may land one of the bargains of the winter as they ramp up negotiations for uSuthu star Tshepang Moremi.

“The club is keen to sign Moremi for next season, and negotiations have already started,” Kick Off confirmed.

Earlier in the season the 24-year-old informed AmaZulu FC that he will not renew his contract, which expires in two months, insinuating this to be a free transfer for the Buccaneers. And with nine goals and assists this season, putting the Durban outfit in MTN8 contention, it’s easy to see why Jose Riveiro has his eye on the Sharpeville native.

Moremi has started in 21 of his 24 league appearances and is one of the frontrunners for AmaZulu’s Player of the Season.

Mosimane inbound?

Quadruple chasers Orlando Pirates have reportedly listed former Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane as their priority replacement for the outgoing Jose Riveiro.

“There are a few coaches to be considered for different reasons, but apparently it’s believed that Pitso [Mosimane] is their preferred candidate,” a source stated.

“It’s believed that he is their first priority at the moment. That’s what the team wants as things stand. Even if they have not spoken to him (behind the scenes) yet, he is their first priority.

“They are saying if they (Pirates) managed to work with Jose Riveiro for three years, then why can’t they go for a coach like Pitso? So, they know what they are looking for, and they know quality doesn’t come cheap,” the source added.

“But as you know, although he is their first priority, he is not the only one they are looking at. As I said, there are different factors they are looking at.”
