Student Fight Night London Round 6: Here are some of the KCL students you can expect to see in the ring

Known for its electrifying atmosphere and intense matchups, Wilder Fight Night has become a staple event for university students across the UK, offering amateur fighters the chance to test their skills in the ring.

More than just an eventful night of competition, Wilder Fight Night is a charitable event, with proceeds going toward The Oddball Foundation, making every punch thrown in the ring count for more than just victory.

With the crowd roaring and adrenaline pumping, these student fighters will put everything on the line, proving that university life is about more than just academics.

Who will rise to the occasion and claim victory?

Here’s some of the King’s students stepping into the spotlight for Fight Night London Round 6.

Amy McCarthy 

Amy is stepping into the ring with motivation, determination, and a newfound love for boxing. Initially drawn to Fight Night after seeing a previous round, she quickly embraced the challenge.

Now, with every training session making her stronger and her first sparring sessions proving her progress, she’s more motivated than ever.

Coming from a rowing background, Amy brings full-body strength and endurance to the fight. Describing herself as more of an offensive fighter, she’s ready to bring the pressure and put on an exciting fight.

And while she’s fully locked in on the competition, she keeps things light-hearted and reveals her only fear: “As long as I don’t break my nose, all is good.”

With all the fighters training hard, Amy is determined to stay focused, get in the zone, and make this an unforgettable bout.

Georgia Howell

As Georgia’s training for Fight Night intensifies, she’s realising just how demanding the journey can be—but with every challenge, her determination to succeed only grows stronger.

She said: “I’ve put in the work, and with KCL Rugby supporting me, I’ll have all the motivation I need.”

Stepping into the sparring ring has been a whole new experience—intimidating at first, but incredibly fun. Even when self-doubt might creep in, Georgia is learning to embrace the fight mentality and tackle each challenge head-on, focusing on refining her technique with every session.

Although Georgia points out her physical power as her strength, she approaches the fight with a technical mindset, aiming for clean, calculated moves that showcase skill and finesse. She’s determined to make her fight not only powerful but interesting to watch.

Leslie Cai

Leslie, representing KCLWFC, loves a good challenge—and Fight Night is the perfect chance for her to step up.

With her warrior mentality and quick reflexes, she’s definitely one to watch in the ring. Anyone who faces her will have to keep up, as she brings a lot of energy and sharp moves to the fight.

Confident and determined, Leslie is ready to prove herself under the bright lights. She’s all about keeping things high-energy and fast-paced, making sure the crowd has a fight to remember.

Bruno Pagano

Bruno Pagano is ready to make his mark on the Fight Night journey.

Inspired by previous rounds, he’s determined to carve out his own legacy in the ring. With a strong goal in mind, Bruno is clear: “This fight is something big, and I don’t plan on disappointing.”

His game plan? Stand firm in the middle of the ring and go for the knockout, all while ensuring his cardio keeps him strong throughout the rounds.

Excited and confident, Bruno is not just preparing for a fight—he’s keen on making a difference and showing what he’s made of.

He said: “See you in the ring.”

He’s ready to take on any opponent who steps in front of him.

James ‘Clayton’ Holmes 

James’s motivation for signing up for Fight Night London was simple: he’d never done a fight before, so he thought he’d give it a go.

While his football background doesn’t directly translate to boxing skills, the cardio he’s developed through football has certainly helped in preparing him for the fight.

Excited for the event, James is eager for the adrenaline and fun of the night, knowing his friends will be cheering him on from the crowd and his family will be tuning in via livestream.

When it comes to his biggest strength, he confidently points to his jab, which he’s been honing throughout his training. Expect a “dog fight,” as James describes it—a gritty, relentless battle where he plans to give it his all.

Omar Kanaa

Describing himself as a “pressure fighter”, he’s ready to wear down his opponent, keep the offence going, and fight until the very last bell. Resilient and unfazed by taking hits, his focus is simple: land another punch right back.

Not one to get caught up in speculation, Omar is taking things step by step, fully focused on training and letting his performance in the ring speak for itself.

For him, this fight is about more than just competition—it’s about purpose, discipline, and hard work.

Roberto Viery 

His motivation to sign up was simple: “Why not give it a try?”

Eager for the new experience, Roberto is looking forward to stepping into the ring and putting his training to the test.

When it comes to his strengths, Roberto is focused on his strong jab, sharp reflexes, power, and head movement, which he’s been honing through running more and shadow boxing whenever he can. 

While his football and jiu-jitsu backgrounds provide him with strong fitness, he knows that boxing requires a specific set of skills, and he’s eager to rise to the challenge.

Excited for the fight, Roberto isn’t dwelling on nerves.

He said: “I’m not scared, I’m looking forward to it.”
