Sundowns dominate latest Bafana Bafana squad with NINE stars!

Mamelodi Sundowns dominate the latest Bafana Bafana squad which Hugo Broos announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Brazilians have NINE stars who will carry the South African flag against both Lesotho and Benin on 21 and 25 March respectively.

Bafana Bafana will host Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on 21 March before traveling to Benin on 25 March.

As expected, Sundowns form the core of Broos’ squad given their quality and dominance in the league.

The nine players are Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, Jayden Adams, Bathusi Aubaas, Thapelo Morena, and Iqraam Rayners.

Broos also included in-form Thabo Moloisane while both Percy Tau and Lyle Foster returned to the Bafana Bafana setup.

Bafana Bafana understand the importance of beating both Lesotho and Benin as they would be in pole position to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

Broos’ men are currently second in Group C with seven points, level with Benin and Rwanda while Lesotho are fourth with five points.

They have already beaten Benin 2-1 in the first leg which was played at Moses Mabhida Stadium in November 2023.

The 23-man squad will assemble in Johannesburg on Sunday, 18 March for their first training session on Monday.

Bafana Bafana will then travel to Polokwane later that week for the final preparations of the encounter against their neighbours.
