‘Sundowns star is the best player in Africa’

Junior Khanye is majorly impressed by Mamelodi Sundowns’ extraordinary talent Lucas Ribeiro.

THE BEST IN AFRICA

Following last weekend’s 3-1 win over Orlando Pirates wherein Ribeiro scored two goals, former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye was left in awe.

“Complements to Ribeiro for complementing the midfielders,” said Khanye via iDiski Times.

“Football is played in departments they build up from the back and you cannot allow Sundowns to build up and you cannot allow [Teboho] Mokoena to go and fetch the ball. Once he fetches the ball [Marcello] Allende will avail and when he avails Jayden [Adams] complements him. Jayden has a forward pass and with his forward pass he finds Ribeiro. Ribeiro then starts and finishes. You see the guy is very arrogant on the ball I think he won the game today.

“Lucas Ribeiro has no competition in South Africa. He was doing as he pleased. He is the best player on the African continent. He is Brazilian, but the best player playing in Africa at the moment,” Khanye added on the Sundowns star.

CLUB WORLD CUP EVENT UPSETS MIGUEL CARDOSO

Mamelodi Sundowns are proud to be heading to the FIFA Club World Cup in June, but coach Miguel Cardoso was not pleased with last week’s marketing event.

As reported across local media last Friday, the FIFA Club World Cup marketing team visited Sundowns’ training base for a photo shoot session with the trophy. The event was hours before Kabo Yellow came up against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership.

“Believe me, yesterday I was so pissed off, so pissed off! said Cardoso as quoted by IDiski Times. “Because we had the day to think about the World Cup when we should be thinking about Pirates. I was not happy believe me because I know what we have ahead. And for us ahead is always the next match. I don’t think about Champions League at all. I don’t think about the World Cup…

“I just had to cope with activities that allow us to prepare for these moments, but our daily lives next day, next day, next day, next day!

“So, today we analyse, we see the contacts we take the decisions to win tomorrow, and tomorrow is the training session to grow,” concluded the Sundowns mentor.
