Suspect in Aiken County barricade incident turns himself in, taken into custody

UPDATE, 5:50 p.m. – The New Ellenton Police Department announced Christopher Parker turned himself as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, after coming to the station to speak with authorities.

Parker was taken into custody without incident and “was in possession of a handgun during his arrest.”

According to the police department, Parker faces several charges, including felony Possession of a Firearm. He is currently being housed at the Aiken County Detention Center.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Investigators are searching for a suspect that reportedly barricaded himself inside a home in New Ellenton, Monday morning. The home is located on Million Avenue Northwest.

The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Christopher N. Parker.

At one point, authorities say shots were fired but no one was hit. A search of the home found that he was no longer inside.

We are still waiting to learn what started the incident.

New Ellenton Police Department Chief Joshua Solomon has stated that the department has submitted a request on Tuesday morning for assistance with the U.S. Marshal’s in order to bring Parker into custody.

Parker is considered armed & dangerous.
