The beautiful little town on a Spanish island made famous by Meghan Markle after new brand logo controversy

PORRORES is a Majorcan town that has bars, vineyards, 36 windmills and now, a link to royalty.

Compared to the other Spanish destinations, Porrores doesn’t get too many visitors – but that could be set to change thanks to Meghan Markle‘s latest branding of As Ever.

They share the palm tree and bird design

Porrores is not a tourist destination, especially when compared to the capital of the island, Palma that brings in millions of visitors a year.

The town has a population of just 5,000, but could well be inundated with visitors with the Duchess Meghan Markle putting it on the map.

Meghan’s brand, As Ever, formerly known as American Riviera Orchard, is a lifestyle brand selling everything from pet food to yoga gear, home decor and cookbooks.

But she recently came under scrutiny for the design.

Her logo is of a white palm tree with two birds either side – and looks strikingly similar to the Porrores coat of arms.

The town’s coat of arms dates actually back to 1370 a few years after it was reclaimed by Spain from the Romans and the Saracens.

The mayor of Ms Mora Veny has since said they will be asking Meghan to remove it from her website.

She told The Sun: “The only difference with their logo and our coat of arms is that theirs shows two hummingbirds and in ours are either swallows or pigeons — historians cannot agree.”

Mr Veny has also said she would be happy to show Meghan around the town to show her the prevalence of the coat of arms.

But even tourists can explore the town, with popular local spots including the street of Avinguda Bisbe Campins, which has bars, cafes, the town hall and the popular gothic church of Nostra Senyora del Consolacion.

Porrores is particularly well known for growing olives, apricots, almonds and cereal crops.

So if you stumble across the local market, expect some very high quality produce.

It’s also a great place to explore the vineyards and learn more with an organised tour.

There are also 36 windmills in the town, 10 of which are in the town centre.

Not all the windmills are in use though, some have been abandoned, some are used as warehouses.

With the town being inland, it’s a great place for anyone who enjoys hiking to explore the countryside.

It’s very central location means its easy to visit neighbouring towns on the island like Manacor, Campos and Llucmajor.

To get to Porrores, holiday makers will need to fly into Palma and then either drive for just over half an hour, or take the train which takes just under an hour.

And while it’s not exactly a tourist hotspot, there are some great places to stay in with some from as little as £89 per night.

Meghan Markle’s to launch As Ever

Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand is set to launch next month…

Meghan Markle announced in mid-February that she would be changing the name of her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard to As Ever.

Meghan said American Riviera Orchard is a nickname for where she grew up in Santa Barbara – which, as previously reported, has caused her trademark issues.

On an Instagram video, Meghan promised fans she will still be selling jams, saying “my jam is my jam”, but As Ever opens up more opportunities and is tied to her upcoming Netflix show With Love, Meghan.

Her brand is expected to launch alongside the show will will air on Tuesday 4 March.

A popular hotel on TripAdvisor is Finca Son Jorbo with 356 five star reviews.

The privately-owned traditional Majorcan house in the rural countryside has been transformed into a stylish bed and breakfast from £105 per night.
