The first total lunar eclipse of 2025 is set to occur on March 14, featuring a spectacular celestial event that will not be visible from Pakistan due to daylight hours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the eclipse will commence at 8:57 AM Pakistan Standard Time (PST), entering its total phase at 11:26 AM and reaching its peak at 11:59 AM.
The eclipse will gradually conclude by 3:00 PM PST.
Skywatchers in Europe, much of Asia, Australia, Africa, North and South America, and across the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Antarctic regions will have the opportunity to witness this event, potentially observing a “Blood Moon” as the moon takes on a reddish hue during totality.
In North America, the moon will start to look like a bite is being taken out of it from 1:09 am Eastern Time (0509 GMT), and then the totality will be between 2:26 am to 3:31 am, according to NASA.
In France, the totality will be from 7:26 am-8:31 am local time (0626-0731 GMT), according to the French Institute of Celestial Mechanics and Ephemeris Calculation.
This eclipse also coincides with the “Worm Moon,” signalling the arrival of spring.
It is the first total lunar eclipse since 2022, but there will be another this September.
