Ticket prices to Travis Scott’s one-night-only stop in South Africa as part of his Circus Maximus World Tour have shocked local fans.
The US rapper will perform in Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium on 11 October.
The venue is the same sold-out one that singer Chris Brown performed in last December.
TRAVIS SCOTT’S TICKET PRICES SHOCK SA FANS
On Friday, 28 November, tickets to Travis Scott’s South African leg of the Circus Maximus tour officially went on sale. The tickets are priced as follows:
- General admission standing: R915
- Aisle seating: R780 – R1690
- Reserved seating: R685 – R1595
- Front zone standing: R 1880 – R5733
- Platinum seating: R2215 – R3320
- VIP premium seating: R 5733
- Hall of Fame, SMSA Lounge: R 6319,25
Needless to say, the cheapest tickets to the Grammy Award-winning entertainer – who is also the baby daddy to Kylie Jenner – were snapped out first. This left many fans disheartened about spending a fortune to attend the concert.
On X, other South Africans were shocked at the exorbitant prices Travis Scott fans were willing to fork out.
@goldengirl7x: “A ticket above the minimum wage of the country.”
@Plutonic05Q: “Who are the promoters and marketing managers of such events, and do they understand the economy we live in?”
@hlogoyalapa: How do you charge such prices to a third-world country?
@shukrani__: “Patiently waiting for September so that they drop the prices and minister Gayton gives people free tickets. You can’t fill FNB Stadium with R5k tickets.”
One fan even joked about having “selling all the furniture in the house” to watch Travis Scott live in concert. Hilariously, the rapper responded on X: Hold on, not all the furniture”, he tweeted.
BRINGING THE SAME ENERGY AS 2017?
Travis Scott first performed in South Africa back in 2017 at the Castle Lite Unlocks concert in Johannesburg and Polokwane. The star shared the stage with fellow artist Bryson Tiller.
During his tour, Travis stopped to take pics with children in a local township.
“South African culture rocks,” Travis tweeted of a cute clip of him meeting the starstruck kids.
