BBC fans are delighted to have Ten Pound Poms back after almost two years.
The hit historical drama, which first aired in 2023, is based on the true story of British workers who emigrated to Australia and New Zealand in search of a new life after the Second World War.
Starring Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan and Game of Thrones’ Faye Marsay, the first series was released to a warm critical reception and healthy viewership figures.
Fans have been waiting a long time to get another instalment, but the new six-part season finally premiered on Sunday, with the first episode on BBC One and the rest already available on iPlayer.
‘I have missed this show, so good to have it back!! the cast are incredibly talented <3 #tenpoundpoms,’ raved viewer @corredalexo on X.
‘#TenPoundPoms is back 🙌🏻 Any drama with Michelle Keegan is a drama well worth watching. She never disappoints @michkeegan,’ added @TwellyWatcher.

‘Nice to have #TenPoundPoms back, I enjoyed the first series, a good start to this one,’ wrote @DanJBrownMUFC, while @things_rants begged: ‘BBC PLEASE RENEW FOR SERIES 3 #tenpoundpoms’
Unfortunately, not everyone was quite so impressed, with other viewers complaining about the length of time between the two series.
@SunnydaleDreams complained: ‘#TenPoundPoms It’s been two years since the first season. How is anyone expected to remember anything? I’ve literally “lost the plot.”
‘Disconnected, no longer invested. Too long between seasons.’
‘Two years between seasons is really wild #tenpoundpoms,’ added @my3epaulets.
There is currently no update on a potential third season, but Michelle has admitted she would ‘definitely’ be interested in returning.
‘Yeah, don’t get me wrong – I love this show and I feel very lucky to be a part of it,’ she told press included Radio Times.
‘I feel like if the audience takes with this season and there’s hunger there for another season, fingers crossed the BBC will want another one. I’d definitely be up for it.’
However, announcing in December that she’s pregnant with her and husband Mark Wright’s first baby together, she admitted there could be ‘a bit of a delay’ of a third series did go ahead.
If nothing else, at least the fans will be used to a long wait for more episodes.

Michelle plays character Kate Thorne on the show, and speaking to the BBC she revealed her character’s true intentions and what took her to Australia in the first place.
‘As we saw in the first series, Kate’s son Michael was sent to Australia in the care system and was adopted into an Australian family, which Kate didn’t know. Trying to find him is what took her to Australia,’ she said.
‘This series is really about Kate trying to expose the fact that her and her son have been separated against her wishes, which happened to so many families and to so many women in the 1950s, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.’
In the new series, Kate and the Roberts family – played by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown – are ‘each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream’.
The synopsis teases: ‘As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie.’
Ten Pound Poms airs Sundays at 8pm on BBC One. All season two episodes are available on iPlayer.
