Two people arrested by RCSO, NAPD after attempting to flee the scene

UPDATE, 8:47 P.M. – According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the passenger who fled the vehicle during the traffic stop has been identified as Reginald Franklin, 37, who authorities state is a fugitive with an outstanding warrant for Escape by the Georgia Department of Corrections at the Macon State Prison.  

Authorities add that Franklin also had a felony probation violation warrant in Richmond County.  


RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Two people have been arrested after trying to escape from officers running away on foot and fleeing the scene using a vehicle.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Jackson Road and Wrightsboro Road at 4:35 P.M. on Friday.

Authorities say the passenger fled from the vehicle on foot and was later taken into custody by RCSO deputies.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit which resulted in the crossing the South Carolina state line on I-520 where the North Augusta Police Department apprehended the driver after the driver stopped.

The driver then was taken into custody.
