WASHINGTON, Ga. (WJBF)- Blake Thompson played football, wrestled, and was hoping to play baseball before his tragic injury stopped him.
Blake Thompson’s coach says he’s a kid that shows up everyday and gives it his all. And his care for Tiger sports and his team meant a lot to them.
“I’ve been around, boy, for five years. I love the kid. He comes to every practice. He tries as hard as anything he does. And he cares about the sports. He cares about the other people. He cares about the coaches, and the coaches, myself and the other athletes in around him love him being around too,” said coach, Isaac Johnson.
And his dedication meant a lot to Tiger Nation.
“He does everything he can to participate in any sports he can. I mean, football and wrestling, he was getting ready to gear up for baseball, unfortunately, with the injury. I don’t know if he’s going to be playing baseball this year. Hopefully, recovery will allow him to be a part of athletics again. So that’s what we’re praying for. That’s what we’re hoping for,” said Johnson.
Now, just a week after his recovery, they are still finding their way to be without him.
“So just being able to see him and talk to him the few times that we did and the family just kind of helped us push through it and people are asking how he’s doing. So it’s kind of getting around the community and they’re praying and donating and reaching out. So he’s kind of made the transition easier,” said Johnson.
