Will Kaizer Chiefs splash the cash on R7m target?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has recently revealed that the club has a new transfer strategy in mind as they plan for next season, with a key priority placed on finding the correct players to fit his game model.

With this in mind, it is extremely interesting to see rumours suggesting that Feisal Salum, who is a leading midfielder for Tanzanian Premier League side Azam FC, could be a key target for Chiefs.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to South Africa in recent seasons, but nothing has really materialised as he still has over a year remaining on his contract with Azam.

According to his club, the Tanzanian international is ‘not for sale’, but in a report from The Citizen, there is a willingness from Chiefs to prepare a big bid for a player that reportedly has a price tag in the region of R7-million.

“Informal talks between Chiefs and Azam have already started, but as you know, until an offer has been submitted, there’ll be denials all over. But what I can tell you is that talks have indeed started,” a source was quoted as saying.

“Football is business, Azam may say now that they’re not willing to sell, but they know that they’ll have to sell if the player doesn’t want to renew his contract. They won’t want to risk losing him for free.”

The talented player has previously worked with the Kaizer Chiefs coach

Salum worked with Nabi at Young Africans (Yanga), and it would certainly be interesting to see if they could be reunited.

Another report by AfricaFootUnited has also suggested Chiefs are exploring opening up negotiations again, with Nabi very keen on seeing this progress at the end of the 2024/25 season.

“We know the competition, it’s hard to sign players from other clubs in South Africa for us, so we need to change our strategy and we have a new strategy in management for that,” Nabi interestingly revealed in an interview with iDiski Times.

“It’s not for me to talk to you about it, but the club, we have a new strategy that we are working on. After this window, we will maybe look outside, another country for other players.

“But it’s not about names, I don’t need big names, I need the profile of the player that can fit into my system, not a name. And we will go outside South Africa if we need to.

“But I don’t want too many players, but I want the quality players that my game model needs.”

DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD BE A GOOD SIGNING?
