AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – One person is dead, and another is in custody after a shooting in Augusta early Saturday morning.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, on March 1st, at 3:06 a.m., deputies responded to 527 Richmond Hill Road West in reference to shots fired with an individual being shot.
Upon officer’s arrival, they located a female victim, a 45-year-old, of the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road West, who had an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to WellStar MCG Health for treatment and later this morning succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities say, investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division responded to the scene.
After further investigation, investigators were able to identify and arrest, 26-year-old Keondra McBride of the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road West.
McBride was then transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center and charged with Murder.
The investigation is still ongoing.
