WOW: Orlando Pirates sign Kaizer Chiefs top prospect! (Picture)

It’s a very rare occurrence for a player to move directly between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates even for free.

Often once you have picked a side between Chiefs and Pirates, that’s the side of Soweto you try build on.

Movement between Soweto giants directly is rare

There have been some famous cases in the most recent past. The biggest remains Jimmy Tau, who left Pirates as captain and signed for Chiefs and became captain in 2005. That move was met with a great deal of uproar and disdain by the other side of Soweto. Since then the likes of Lehlohonolo Majoro and Brilliant Khuzwayo crossed the divide on a free. The most recent and most historic one to date, however, is that of Bongani Sam. When he moved from the Buccaneers to Amakhosi earlier this season, he became the first transfer between the two sides. This by means of a transfer fee.

Now from one full back to another, young prospect has just competed a similar move. SA U20 right back Duane Bennett has recently completed his move from Chiefs development to Pirates. According to goal.com RSA, he will play for Pele Pele FC who are the Buccaneers feeder amateur side playing the ABC Motsepe League
